Airsoft Guns And BB Guns – Not The Same Thing

Posted on 03. Sep, 2009 by Anthony Carter.

0

Airsoft guns are taking the world of hobby guns by storm. These replicas of the real thing are being used recreationally by people around the world who are fascinated by the world of firearms. Airsoft guns are designed for adults who want to play cowboys and Indians, cops and robbers or tactical war games, just for fun.

There are those who have heard of airsoft guns and have seen them in action but confuse them with BB guns. There certainly are many similarities, as they both look remarkably like the real deal. However, there are distinct differences between the two types of faux-weapons that set them apart.

Airsoft guns were developed over 30 years ago in Japan, in an era where real guns were banned but weapons enthusiasts were getting itchy trigger fingers. Manufacturers began developing realistic looking spring-powered guns, which evolved into gas and finally automated electric guns, or AEGs. They arrived in North America in the mid-1990s.

BB guns have been around for over 100 years. The 1940s western comic Red Ryder popularized the BB gun when it was sold in stores as a tie-in product. Unlike airsoft guns, which are for gaming, BB guns are commonly used for serious target shooting or even for hunting small animals such as gophers, squirrels and pigeons.

Airsoft guns shoot relatively harmless plastic pellets, which are 6mm in size. These pellets don’t cause any injuries. A BB, or small metal ball or pellet, fired from a BB gun can definitely do some damage. BB guns fire at 91 to 152. 4 meters per second which is much more powerful than an airsoft gun which fires, at most, 91 meters per second. BB guns are not to be used as a toy. They should be treated as a real weapon.

The firing mechanisms can be similar. BB guns used compressed gas or other type of air, while airsoft guns may also use compressed gas. The firing mechanism can also be electric or spring-loaded.

Airsoft weaponry and BB guns are deliberately manufactured to resemble the look of real guns and to feel like a real weapon when grasped. An unsuspecting person could easily mistake a BB gun or an airsoft gun for a lethal weapon. Fortunately, by law, an airsoft gun must be sold with a bright orange blaze at the end of the barrel to help identify it. This bright orange identifier is mandatory. Real guns do not have a neon orange tip.

Paintball guns, used for similar recreational purposes, are quite different than airsoft guns. They have a simple, more primitive design and can not be mistaken for a real gun. Like an airsoft gun, they fire using compressed air or gas which is expelled from cannisters mounted on top of the gun. They fire paintballs, which are loaded with paint and smash against their target in an explosion of messy paint. Sometimes the force can cause pain and bruising.

Author information: Anthony Carter enjoys everything about airsoft guns. If you want to find a great airsoft gun then JD Airsoft Guns is where you should look.

Pregnant? Want To Continue To Be Active? Here Are Some Tips And Important Information.

First of all, before we even get into this, you need to remember that before you begin exercising, it is important to talk to your health care provider. If you are already exercising, you may be able to keep up with your regular routine and change it slightly as you grow. Remember to Keep your heart rate under 140 beats per minute and avoid overheating, especially in your first trimester (the first 12 weeks).

An especially recommended exercise would be Kegel Exercises: Pregnant women who perform Kegel exercises frequently often find that they have an easier birth because they strengthened these muscles during their pregnancy. When you have exercised these muscles, when it comes to the birth of your child, you will find that you have developed the ability to control your muscles during your labor and the delivery of your baby. There is also other benefits of toning all of these muscles: it will help you minimize bladder leaks and hemorrhoids, two things that are common to have during and after pregnancy.

Kegel Exercises are also great because you don’t need a gym membership for them! By strengthening these pelvic floor muscles, your bladder control will be fabulous and you will feel much better about that!

Lets talk swimming. A fabulous way to exercise and very easy on the joints and relaxing for your back. You and the baby can both float (obviously, the baby will float in his/her own water) and just enjoy it. And if you want to look fabulous, go and get a new maternity swimsuit. Then you can feel as good as you look.

Walking is great for when you are pregnant. It is very safe for you and the baby, and you can do it anytime. If you make a schedule when you walk, keep it even after the baby is born, so that you can keep active then too. If you haven’t exercised before, always check with your doctor and start slow and then gradually build it up. Make sure you have good comfortable shoes and comfy clothes!

Biking is a fabulous way of exercising. You sit on a bike, which supports all of your weight and so there is little to no stress on your joints. If you are afraid of falling, try a stationary bike. Remember, as your belly grows, your balance might be a little off, so be extra careful when you are biking then.

Yoga is something that pregnant women especially like. There are classes designed specifically for this, and you can probably look them up in the phone book or check your local gym/community center. Yoga is great for relieving stress off of joints and all over your whole body, and it makes you really calm. Yoga clothes are easy to find, and if you would like ones specifically maternity yoga clothes, be specific when you are looking.

A lot of women enjoy Pilates, especially the classes, because it is a great way to stretch and get in shape, as well as meet new people and build a support network. You should not lie on your back too much though, or over stretch. Always speak to your doctor if this is something new for you.

If you have been running previously or doing other high cardiovascular (heart rate) aerobics, it is okay to still do them, just at a lower key because you had done them before you were pregnant. Just inform your care provider that you are continuing with your previous routine.

If you would like to continue with your regular routine and you attend a gym, please be aware of how high your heart rate is when doing cardiovascular exercises. It can be quite dangerous if it is too high. Always speak to your doctor if you have any questions.

There are certain exercises that we should avoid when we are expecting. Unfortunately, if you love horseback riding, you do have to stop for the next nine months. It isn’t safe for the baby, all that bouncing around in the saddle. Doctors don’t recommend it. Skiing is another activity that we should not be doing, whether water or downhill. This is because if we fall, we can cause serious damage to our abdomen’s as well as to the baby. Please stay away from any exercise that has a high risk of falling, and if you are not sure, just check with your care provider.

Things to remember:

1. Wear a great sports bra that will give you good support.

2. Wear comfortable clothes.

3. Wear supportive, comfortable, non slip shoes. These are your only feet.

4. Drink lots of water to keep you hydrated.

5. Breathe deeply and consistently.

6. Don’t get your heart rate to high, you don’t want to over exert yourself or have the baby’s heart rate to high.

7. When stretching, it is not recommended to be lying on your back for to long, so try do the stretches standing or sitting. It is also not recommended to do sit ups or crunches when you are expecting. Each case is different, so check with your physician.

8. If you suspect that something is not right, and you have symptoms like vaginal bleeding, shortness of breath, nausea, dizziness or cramping, please stop what you are doing immediately. If these symptoms continue, or if you are unsure of what is going on, please contact your doctor, or go to emergency.

Enjoy your pregnancy, and enjoy exercising. Just remember to be careful and ask your doctor if you have any questions. This time will go by fast!

Do you want to increase your vertical jumping? Read How.

Posted on 03. Sep, 2009 by Amit Rosman.

What is the best way to increase the height of your vertical jumps? Certainly there are probably some exercises that are better and more effective than others, but which are the best ones? Which exercises will get the best results without burning you out too fast? Keep reading to find out more about the best exercises to put a little more spring into your vertical jumps.

Do Your Warm Ups. Rather than jumping right into your exercise routine, you should always do some stretches to warm up your legs first. Many of the warm up stretches swimmers do are also perfect for jumpers. You can also run up and down stairs or jump rope for several minutes to get your muscles warmed up. These are also effective for inclusion in your regular training regime.

Strengthen Your Legs. To build strength, you want to focus on performing appropriate exercises slowly and methodically. You should plan for each rep of a particular leg exercise to take about nine seconds from start to completion. For instance, slow toe raises and deep knee bends help strengthen your leg muscles and can be performed either with or without added weights.

Optimize muscle. While you don’t need to be a body builder or Mr. Olympics to be a great vertical jumper, you do need a fit, toned, well-shaped body to power your jumps. You will want to have a speedy metabolism, low body fat, and strong bones and muscles. When you have more muscle, you also burn more calories when you exercise. When you burn more calories, you have the energy to fire your vertical jumps and reach new heights.

Having said that, what common exercises can help you improve your vertical jumps? Quite a few really easy ones that you can do everyday include:

Jumping rope. This should not be difficult to do or find. A length that you can comfortably swing around you does the trick. Stand tall and jump on two feet for a few minutes, then hop on each foot alternately. You can do this while watching your favorite program on the telly. Ten-minute bursts are great to begin with. You can increase intensity as you go along. But remember that because you want to increase the height of your vertical jump, your goal is always to jump higher, not jump more often in a stretch of time.

Deep knee bends. Start out in a normal standing position with a nice straight back. Slowly bend your knees to lower your body down, maintaining that straight back. Stop short of getting deep far enough to where you would be in a relaxed low position so there is still tension on your leg muscles and then slowly raise your body back up again to resume the original standing position. Go down slowly and come up slowly, counting approximately four seconds on the way down and another four seconds on the way up. Do 15 reps like this each day and gradually increase the number of reps after a week or so of practice. In addition to building power and muscle in your legs, this exercise also tones your thighs.

No matter your current size or strength, you can jump higher, react faster, and dominate your position. To get tips on vertical jumping exercises and training tools and who they are best suited for, check out http://www.verticaljumpingblog.com

Choosing An Artistic Career In Dance

Posted on 03. Sep, 2009 by Peggy Ryersen.

There is nothing quite like watching the live performance of talented dancers on stage as they work in a collaborated effort to present a dramatic show. Several people work behind the scenes for months to bring perfection to the art of dance. If you have two left feet and have given up on ever pursuing your dream in dance and music, there are many areas where you can still be a part of a team that is much in demand to make up the opening show.

The Composer or Musician

Dance would not be entertaining or have a certain rhythm without the accompaniment of just the right mode of music. Many times the music has already been written and the Composer or Musician works closely with the choreographer in reworking particular areas of song to allow for certain dance steps and scenes that bring out the best in the dancers or to create a new scene. Other times, writing an entirely new version of song is necessary to match the choreographer’s ideas.

Set Designer

The set designer plays a very important role in the success of a show. To most people who are viewing the show, the different scenes bring the show together by setting the mood with music and the dance to make a story. To accomplish this, it calls for a talented and skilled set designer with foresight since it sets the mood and atmosphere for the dance and music.

The Lighting Designer

Lights are everything when it comes to stage performance. The lighting designer is trained to be able to cast shadows, silhouette, color wash, night and day and spotlight on every move as the scene demands. Being able to switch from an indoor scene to outdoor is not as easy as it looks but for the lighting designer, it is done with ease. This is a very technical area of dance that requires schooling in addition to a love of the stage.

The Costume Designer

If the performers appeared on stage in drab apparel, the show would lose much of its zeal. This is where the costume designer brings pizzazz to the show. Working with the choreographer, certain textures and colors are discussed to give the dancers important elements that blend in with the background and music. Understanding how light plays on material is often an important factor in the dance presentation.

The Make-Up Artist

The make-up artist has to be very creative. This means to have the talent to be able to make-up paint and brushes to create different looks, such as that of youthfulness, evil, kind or aging. Many times it needs to be repeated more than once. This is where the professionals stand out, because it is not as simple as many assume it is. Working on a human face is very different than a canvas and on occasion the make-up artist ends up doing hair design, also.

Exploring the various careers related to dance can help many students develop both appreciation and awareness for the cooperation that is needed produce performances and the many careers associated with dance.

Help For Back Pain After Childbirth

Posted on 03. Sep, 2009 by Andrew de Bruyn.

0

A common problem after childbirth is back pain. There are several reasons for this, but we will look at 4 reasons and 4 actions you can take.

1.Weakened abdominal or core muscles. Especially during the last trimester of your pregnancy, you found it extremely difficult, and probably impossible, to do most exercises. It was probably impossible for you to do abdominal exercises during pregnancy. I can’t imagine that you did any sit-ups! Your abdominal muscles have probably weakened during your pregnancy. Your torso is held up at the back by your lower back muscles and in the front by your abdominals. Because these muscles have weakened, poor posture is likely as well as strained lower back muscles.

2.Tight muscles in the legs, chest and shoulders. Because of your restricted movements while you carried your baby, your muscles have not been stretched. If you have lower back pain, your hamstrings and gluteals could be tight. muscles. When the hamstring muscles and gluteal muscles are tight, they can cause rounding of the lower back, with associated back pain. This is because the hamstrings are attached to the pelvis and pull on the pelvis when tight. Stiff shoulder muscles will likely cause neck and upper back pain. Tight chest muscles pull on the shoulder and will also likely cause neck and shoulder pain.

3.Bad posture. You have a baby that you have to feed constantly. This means you need to pick up and put down your baby often. If you’re not aware of your posture, you could be straining your back. Although your baby is fairly light (at least in the first few months!), over time the repeated action of picking up your baby with poor posture will strain your back.

4.Being overweight. Being overweight puts an undue strain on the back. Overweight people are also usually less flexible, with a smaller range of motion, so that sudden movements are more likely to cause strains and pain. Many women pick up weight during pregnancy, which makes back pain worse.

Taking action 1. Strengthen your abdominal or core muscles every day for 5-10 minutes. Don’t do sit-ups because sit-ups will strain your back when your muscles have weakened. Rather do abdominal crunches. Perform 10 repetitions to start with. Each week, try to increase the number of repetitions. Also do a stability exercise, such as the plank. Time yourself. Start with 15 seconds and try to improve the time you spend in the position each week.

2. Stretch your connected muscles. Do 3-5 minutes a day of stretching. The key stretches you need to do are: 1) hamstrings, as these connect to your pelvis and affect the lower back 2) chest muscles, as the chest muscles attach to the shoulder blade and pull the shoulders forward, causing upper back pain if tight 3) shoulders, as neck and shoulder pain is common where these muscles are tight. Hold each stretch for 15-30 seconds to start with. Aim to increase this each week.

3.Be aware of your posture. Be aware when you pick your baby up or put your baby down. Don’t round your back. Bend your legs and make your legs do the work, not your back muscles. Bend forward at the hips, keeping the back straight.

4.Walk. Go walking with your baby. Put your baby in the pram/stroller and walk. Walking is very good for tight gluteal and hamstring muscles. It’s also an excellent way to exercise and lose weight in the beginning of an exercise plan

Build your Back,Beat the Pain is a step-by-step plan that anyone can follow. It takes just 15 minutes a day and is designed to stretch and strengthen all the muscles needed to help beat back pain

What Workout Has Yoga and Pilates on It?

Posted on 03. Sep, 2009 by Jesse Regan.

0

In Pilates and yoga exercises, both physical and mental disciplines are significantly improved. Joseph Pilates was the one who developed the Pilates as a form of a physical fitness system in Germany back in the 20th century. This type of system was once known as contrology because it practices the mind to gain full control over the muscles involved in the work outs. Yoga is another type of a physical fitness system which originated in India along with its fine line of yoga variety that includes the Bhakti Yoga, Raja Yoga, Karma Yoga, Jnana Yoga, Hatha Yoga, and more.

Pilates and yoga come to be very comparable with each other as both have similarity as well as differences with its exercises. Its first example is the open leg balance. This type of exercise is done in two ways which is by way of open or closed legs and is also referred to as the boat pose. In most cases, the legs are positioned in a V shape. In this work out, your abdominals gets most of the work from which it holds the entire body’s balance. Another common exercise on both Pilates and yoga is the Plow Pose or the Roll Over. But then, this type of work out is executed in different ways in relation to the physical fitness system it belongs. The yoga gives more emphasis on the movement’s smoothness as well as the intensity of the flexibility factor involved in the exercise providing the person an option to hold it out in a longer time. On the other hand, the Pilate’s Roll Over is characterized with continuous movements providing more work on the abdominals.

Yet another common exercise for both physical fitness systems is the swan otherwise known as cobra. The swan is the used term in Pilates while cobra is used in yoga. To add more intense in this exercise, a person simply has to straighten the arms which adds to the flexibility to the body. The swan and cobra only differs on one thing- breathing pattern. The swan requires a person to perform a fixed breathing pattern during the exercise while the cobra does not.

For the most basic of exercises, the plank is also commonly known in both physical fitness systems. All you need to do is to keep your body up against the floor by using your shoulders as foundations unto the surface facing down and with an open chest. It is also known as front support in Pilates but yoga’s plank is the more widely used term. More challenge is applied on the exercise through lifting one leg up the ground.

Next to plank is the Pilates push up or the yoga’s chaturanga. However, there is a slight difference with this kind of exercise between Pilates and yoga. In Pilates’ push up, an individual can simultaneously move down and push back up while in yoga’s chaturanga, more time is considered in every position before moving on to the next.

The basic difference between Pilates exercises and yoga movements is that the first is specifically intended to improve one’s core strength. The yoga exercises on the other hand give much more importance on the stretch and flexibility factor of each type of work out. This just means that joining together yoga and Pilates exercises can bring a great advantage to the person. Both types of physical and mental discipline systems are capable of providing a significant increase on a person’s strength as well as flexibility. These are several samples of workout routine .

You can have the best shape with your body and finances be learning more about workout routine . You can ask help from Jesse in his site about how to reap great benefits from being a Beachbody coach.
